Earning with RentX

Every search from your widget carries your IDs through to RentX, and the booking that follows is credited to you.

Both IDs come from your Trackdesk account, which is created when you register as a RentX affiliate. You do not invent them, and you cannot change them.

  • data-rentx-partner — your partner ID.
  • data-link-id — the ID of the tracking link for this placement.

If you do not have them yet, register as a RentX affiliate. If you have registered and cannot find them, ask RentX rather than guessing — an ID that does not exist in Trackdesk looks exactly like a working one in the widget.

Attribution needs both IDs. RentX credits a booking only when the search arrives carrying both; with just one of them, the booking goes through and nobody is paid for it.

<script src="https://rentx.al/embed.js"
data-rentx-partner="your-partner-id"
data-link-id="your-link-id"
></script>

The widget renders and searches perfectly well with neither — it just earns you nothing, and there is no visible sign that anything is wrong. That is the single most expensive mistake you can make with this widget.

If you run the widget in more than one place and want to know which one earns, each placement needs its own tracking link, and so its own data-link-id. Those links live in your Trackdesk account — ask RentX if you need another one.

<script src="https://rentx.al/embed.js"
data-rentx-partner="your-partner-id"
data-link-id="link-id-for-your-homepage"
></script>
<script src="https://rentx.al/embed.js"
data-rentx-partner="your-partner-id"
data-link-id="link-id-for-your-blog"
></script>

Both credit you; your Trackdesk reporting shows which one earned the booking.

data-source-id overrides which ID the booking is credited to. Leave it off and your data-rentx-partner value is used, which is what you want unless RentX has told you otherwise.

By default, searching opens RentX in a new tab, so your visitor keeps your page. data-target="_self" replaces your page instead:

<script src="https://rentx.al/embed.js"
data-rentx-partner="your-partner-id"
data-link-id="your-link-id"
data-target="_self"
></script>

Attribution works the same either way. The default is almost always the better choice — a visitor who closes the RentX tab is back on your site.

  • Your visitor opens the link and then clears their cookies, or comes back days later on a different device. Attribution is tied to the visit.
  • You rebuild the page and drop the attribute. The widget keeps working, so there is nothing visibly wrong to notice. If your earnings go quiet, check the tag is still intact first.
